It’s nice to read the people that say that 5+ years of dating is not too long for young people. My timeline is about 7 years of dating now before I would like to get engaged with my current boyfriend (because we are long distance. And I want us to live together before getting engaged). But my (gay) friends think my boyfriend should propose this summer (2 years mark), and I think they are crazy !! I feel like two years (long distance dude !) is so short. Even if I see myself marrying my boyfriend, I’m not at a place where I can seriously be sure about it.
And I don’t know if any of you have seen the equivalent, but my gay friends are usually getting engaged pretty quickly, for the sake of getting engaged. They are not planning a wedding, they are just doing it “to show their love” and so “the relationship looks more serious”. Maybe that’s why they want to see me engaged too, but… no, not going to happen this year.
