Since it is wedding week, and I love hearing from you all…
I would love to know (either personal experience or your opinion) how long you dated before engagement, and then how long were you engaged before you were married? If you have done neither of these do you have a strong feeling about what you would do personally? Or do you have massive amounts of wisdom on the subject you would like to pass on to others?
I know there are no hard and fast rules, and that as you get older perhaps you can move through the stages more quickly. For me, personally, I really want to date someone for a very long time (multiple years, maybe like 5 at this point) before I get engaged. But then after I am engaged I can’t see waiting more than a year and a half to actually get married because you’ve already said this is happening. Or maybe I won’t get engaged at all and just be like “Hey, want to get married next week?” because that’s more my style.
I was facebook creeping on people (remember everyone, I am 22 so you understand the ages of these girls). And one of my facebook friends started officially dating this guy in June, got engaged in September, and then married in February. This is blowing my mind and terrifying me. A coworker of mine is a year younger than me and started dating her boyfriend and got engaged within a year and then just announced their wedding date which will be almost 3 years after they got engaged. I could just never be that person in either of those scenarios, so I thought I would ask what you guys think!
