I’m not engaged, but have been with my boyfriend for almost 3.5 years. I’m in no rush—like you, I don’t think it’s “long enough” until, like, 5+ years (especially if the two people are in their early twenties). Of course, to each his/her own.
Whenever I do get engaged though, I feel like I’ll want a bit of a longer engagement? Over a year, maybe? I don’t know why, really, except then the planning won’t be rushed (I guess? For procrastinators like my bf & I, it probably still will be…). Also, I think I’ll want to prolong the “hey everyone, I’m engaged. This is my fiance” stage before having to like, “Welp, I’m a wife.”
